I can't believe Carson has been here over a week now, its crazy. Hayden is doing just awesome, we haven't had any real bad behavior and he loves his brother sooo much, its sweet. He talks to Carson in a goofy high pitched voice and loves to give him kisses.
Carson is a great baby, so far...I'm waiting a little bit longer to make a definite decision! Last night he ate at 11:45, 3:00 and 6:30. Which works out great because I just wait to go to bed until the 11 feeding and then go back to sleep after the morning one, i like to sleep in, even just a little bit! He loves to be swaddled tight and doesn't like pajamas with feet. I love the nightgowns for babies and he does to. He is very into this "buffy" (pacifier) just like Hayden was. He rarely cries only when he is hungry or lost is buffy. We are so in love! Its great to have an addition to our family.
We both went to the doctor on Friday and Carson is back up to 8.4 from 7.13 when we left the hospital and the nurse/lactation consultant said he was perfect, and we were doing everything right, whew! My doctor said my incision was doing great but gave me some stronger cream for my allergic reaction. And then on Friday night i discovered a rash all over my body and it itched like crazy...allergic reaction to my antibiotic but since my incision should no signs on infection and was doing good I don't have to go on another one, thank goodness!
Make sure and look at Carson's Album on the right sidebar too! I've been busy taking pictures of my little Monkey!

We are home and doing well. Carson is such a good baby so far! I have an allergic reaction to the steri strips so i am itchy and kinda blah. But other than that doing good. We actually stayed another night in the hospital because of my rash and my doctor, came every day to look at it and make sure it was okay. I also saw a "Wound Specialist" who said she had seen a lot worst and it was an allergic reaction not an infection so thats good too! I'm on a high dose of antibiotics just in case too.

Hayden is an awesome big brother and adjusting perfectly, its like Carson has always been here. He likes to help and gives lots of kisses!

Jason has been busy, busy with work this week it will be nice after today he'll be home for 2.5 straight days to take care of us! Poor guy has to take care of my "wound" because i can't see it. He's a good guy!

I'm sure to update on Friday! Carson will go in to for a little check up at the hospital nursery and I have to meet with my doctor too.

All is well with Carson and I. My C section went awesome and I feel even better today. I was up and sitting/standing on Friday night and moving all around today! My doctor was impressed and said I can go home tomorrow instead of Monday if everything continues to do well. My epidural was one of the weiredest things i've ever had! Mine happen to work even better than most and it didn't wear off until 2:00, not fully until evening! Because of this i had to be in recovery for over 2 hours, which kind of sucked but Jason took good care of Carson! My legs ached because they thought they were bent, thats how they were when they put the epi in, so my brain must of thought thats the way they still were, it was crazy! Hayden and my mom were waiting for me when I returned to my room. They brought me some beautiful flowers, that many nurses have complimented on, Exchange cake, and presents for Baby Carson. Hayden loves his baby brother! He got him a new phone toy that I am sure Carson will love for a long time.
We had all sorts of visitors to see our new beautiful boy! My Mom, Hayden, my Dad, Emily, Brandon, Emily's friend Brittany, Grandma and Grandpa Routh, Mike, Rae Ann, Michael and Laura! That was all on Friday. I didn't think I'd want many visitors on Friday but I was still numb from my epi, so I was feeling great!
Carson is a sweet little guy. He loves to snuggle his Mommy on her chest! He has a kind of bad reputation in the nursery as a crabby boy! Even our pediatrician Dr. Maria said he was a crabby boy. I find this funny because I've yet to have him fuss for too long for me! He was put in the "naughty chair" last night in the nursery and didn't like it one bit! Its some kind of chair that holds baby upright and swaddles them, then the nurses put on womb noises, yeah he didn't fall for it. So they brought him to Mommy and I put him right to sleep! Ha! He is a natural born eater! He is already doing well nursing.
We are so proud of both our beautiful sons! We are excited to bring this little guy home to join our family and every day life!

We have a date! Baby Carson will be here Friday, May 8th!

I ended scheduling a c-section due to frustration and being rather puffy. My doctor isn't really liking my blood pressure and swelling and I've been put on strict orders to take it easy all week. She wanted to do it today but there wasn't any time to do it. My body also isn't wanting to let this baby out anytime soon. I have had no, zero, zilch signs on labor. My doctor also thinks that even though its a slim chance, the longer we go past my due date the more risk of Meconium Aspiration, like Hayden had.

I am excited and scared. I am happy that this time around I will see my baby be born. I will be one of the first to see him.(Jason, my mom, and Jason's parents all saw him before I did last time). A few people even saw Hayden in the NICU before I did! I will be able to hold Carson long before I was able to hold Hayden. I do know that this being a major surgery I may not feel all that great afterwards but I can't wait for those special moments just between Jason, Carson and I. We never got any of that before. We also think its important for Hayden to be the first to meet his little brother and have him introduce him to people.

I am not sure how long I will stay in the hospital. I was only in there for 36 hours with Hayden(i think!) and am able to stay for 4 days if i want. I don't know if Jason is in denial or what, but he isn't planning on taking any days off of work. He needs to at least bring me home from the hospital! I am hoping the hospital has wireless! I will for sure post pictures and stats as soon as I feel up to it! I can't wait to take pictures either! I just may ban all other cameras from my room! I will have exclusive rights to his pictures! Or at least make people sign a waiver....

Jason and I are not, at all germophobes but with all this Swine Flu nonsense we are not sure how to address it. I am sure people will use their judgement but this was a topic of longing conversation last night with no conclusions, we don't want to be paranoid but we still want to be cautious.

If anyone wants to get a hold of us this weekend call either one of our cell phones or as soon as i find out my private number at St Luke's I'll pass it on! Or email, they have to have Internet what will I do for 4 days???

Since I've been ready for baby for like month now, I now have taken to buying frivolous items I've been wanting!

-My Video Baby Monitor- Yup, i love it already! I had the camera on Hayden outside while i was inside yesterday, it worked great. I had no wind interference either and could hear and see him perfectly.

-Baby Leg Warmers. I've seen the cutest pictures of babies wearing these and nothing else, whats cuter than a naked baby???

-Trumpette Socks. These are kind of for Jason. They look like little golf shoes, so cute!

Things I need to buy and really should:

-Size 1 diapers, I some how have stocked up on size 2 mostly. I have 2 packages of size 1 and 7 of size 2. And 1 of newborns, but at the rate his little hiney is growing those might never fit!

-A Swaddle blanket. Now i am not sure if this is something we need. Some people swear by the things I guess we'll wait and see if Carson will want one or not!

-New blinds for the bedroom-oh wait i've been to 3 different stores and can never get 3 matching ones on the sizes i need!

For now though we are just patiently(or actually impatiently) waiting for this little guy to come so we can meet him!

I haven't done a baby Carson post in a while!

I had my 28 week appointment last week and all was very well! I passed my Gestational Diabetes test, which was a huge relief. It really wasn't very bad drinking the drink either, it just tasted like syrupy Sprite. My doctor told me that I am the lowest of low risk pregnancies too! I haven't had a tad of trouble or issues. I feel so great! Carson's heart rate was at 142(at all the u/s it was 141) he is very consistent. She even found it right away, she just put her doppler on my belly and boom it was the heartbeat, we laughed she said that never happens. I do have to have appointments every 2 weeks from now until 36 weeks. I am just seeing the Nurse Practitioner next just because all is so well.

We are excitingly getting ready around the house for him too. I cleaned out Hayden's closet, which was a HUGE Project and took almost 4 hours. Afterwards I hung up 0-3 month clothes and put tshirts, onesies, socks, hats etc into cute baskets I bought. I did realize that I am going to have to buy some outfits for the littlest sizes because those were all very wintry clothes from Hayden. I don't think wearing wool sweaters in May will work! I couldn't believe how nice everything had stayed from Hayden either. It getting closer and closer! I really should probably be more ready than I am, but oh well it will all come together I am sure!

Smith baby number 2's name is:

Carson. Its a combo of Carter and Mason too! Our 2 favorite names that couldn't be used.

Yeah to Lisa and my Mom for guessing correctly.

Yup, he still doesn't have a middle name. I like Emery, Bennett, or Emmitt.

Hayden spilled the beans to my mom last weekend. Or she badgered it out of him.

**I am bumping this up to the top until Hayden's Birthday Party! We are really enjoying hearing your thoughts!!!!! Keep them coming!

All is well here on the baby front. Baby is 96% nothing wrong, just has a lemony shaped head! His nickname will be Lemon =) As always he was very stubborn on Monday and Mommy got poked and prodded with the ultrasound wand and boy was she sore afterwards. I thought I'd have bruises all over but I don't. He also wasn't very willing to show off his face but very open to showing us his boy parts! I think i have more pictures of those than anything else! Silly little guy! We also have his first name set! But middle name is another story! Oh well we have a while left to figure that out.

Hayden has been a busy little bee lately. I think he still has Christmas pumping through him. He has been sleeping very well and long too! He also knows most of his constants sounds! Again I can't take full credit for this, as we started working on them and he just knew most of them. vowels are hard for him, but I still have to think about them too! We are pretty pumped because we really wanted to start working on reading this summer and think we might be almost there!

Hayden is having a Skating and Sledding Birthday party on Jan. 31st too! We will have the house open and have stuff at the Warming shack across the street. It will be an all day affair from Noon until dark! Hopefully it wouldn't be too cold! Look for your invitations soon! They are being printed today, hopefully correctly this time! Oops Mommy mistake!

I thought maybe we could have a little contest with our Baby's name! Put your thoughts under the comments section and if we have a winner how about a free McCafe from Jason's McDonalds? They are yummy!
I'll give some hints.
**40% of all boys names end in the letter N. As in HaydeN and JasoN and BrandoN.
**The most common first letter on the 100 Most Popular baby names is C, reoccurring 12 out of the 100 times!
We'll give it until Hayden's Birthday party!

We had a fun, fun weekend! We celebrated Jessica's birthday party down at her house on Saturday. I have a TON of pictures! Its weird to me that they are both already 4. Where does time go? Hayden and I were looking at pictures and it seemed like just yesterday they were totting around. It was cold this weekend so we didn't get to go sledding, but this weekend we will! Cold or not! As of right now the weather for sunday is suppose to be 32, which really isn't that bad!!!Hayden got his first makeover this weekend, by Miss Jessica. He loved it! LOL. He did think it was pretty cool. Sunday I had a wedding shower for my cousin Katy who is getting married in 2 weeks. I have so many weddings this year! This is just the first one, but I'm excited and it should be fun. Jason also is getting fitted for his tux for Jon's wedding this week and Kenny's. He is very excited to be wearing "coral" for Jon's wedding. Too funny. Also our baby countdown is down to 2 digits! 99 days, crazy.

Enjoy the pics! More updates this week! Can't wait to see everyone at the Party on Saturday!

I am in baby mode, i don't know why! I want everything ready, soon! I have been making my birth plan, yes i am making one, and yes my Doctor didn't think i was a wacko, control freak for it, she thought it was a good idea. I want to post it and probably will! Hayden is even wanting things done for the baby. He wants his clothes ready and wants to make sure we have a crib for him and such, so cute! So I am going to make a list of things i want for Baby #2 that I probably won't get, because, well they are mostly extravagant and probably useless! Lol!

1. A handheld video monitor. Why? For going outside with Hayden when baby is asleep this summer, without worrying too much!
2. This crib set. Why? Because I already bought this one. But will probably buy these accessories for the boy's room.
3. A Bumbo seat. Why? They look cool, and I didn't have one for Hayden!
4. The Quinn Buzz stroller. Why? Look at the price tag, that's why not!!! =)
5. A Sling, this one in fact. Why? Its the "in" thing to "wear" your baby. Practical, probably not due to the fact it will be summer and me and the baby probably don't want to roast to death!
6. This breast pump. I know weird thing to post but its handsfree! I could do so much will sitting there helplessly!
7. This house! Its a long shot, but hey it only takes less than month to get after your purchase and order it! I bet they have lots of time right now too!

So its like my wishlist! I can wish can't I?????

On Wednesday we told Hayden he was going to be a big brother. At first he just thought about it but now he is super excited. Some things out of his mouth were: "When he pops out of your belly I am going to take a picture of him" "How old will he be on his birthday? (me) Zero (hayden) Well we need to go buy him a zero candle at Wal mart, they have them there you know" "I am going to share all my toys with him" "I bet my brother will be so cute" "Can i touch him" "He needs to eat your food mom, so he can grow big and strong"

So cute!
This morning he woke up and said good morning to "our baby". He keeps saying that his baby is going to be soooo cute.
I am posting this to show him in a few years when he can't stand his brother! =)

I had my 4th ultrasound yesterday to measure baby's head and face. He was quite cooperative and we got a lot of pictures of our little guy. But they still couldn't get a really good look at his head shape/size and I am now going to a high risk ob on Monday for a "few hour" ultrasound, fun. They said that his shape may be irregular which is a sign of Spina Bifida. But all my tests for Neural Tube defect came back super good, so my Doctor said not to worry they just need to further the tests. He was sitting breech and that is not a good position for head measuring. But anyways we are not to worried about it yet. But here are some pictures of our little guy!

3 of his fingers.
His face in 4d. You can see his eyes, nose, and chin clearly.

His (perfectly round head) I mean profile.

His head, arms and legs. Okay his head does look weird here.

I haven't done one of these in a while!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, we did! Hayden is now officially 4! He is making sure we all know how to act and talk like a 4 year old. (You Don't talk to a kid like that, I'm only 4!, When you were 4 you were naughty too!) Christmas a very long few days. Hayden got so much stuff. We have been building, coloring, putting in batteries etc.
He also had his 4 year well child appointment. Doctor Maria loves Hayden! She was there the night he was born and always remembers he is a Christmas Baby. She was impressed by him(aren't we all!!!) and said she thought Preschool wouldn't really be necessary except the social aspect so only 1 or 2 days a week, part time. I agree with her! He is the perfect size of your average 5 year old. Last year he was the perfect size of your average 4 year old, so i guess he is staying on track. She said not to worry about his size because his BMI was fine. Hayden and Dr. Maria carried on a nice conversation about him, his daily activities and so on. It was really cute to listen to him talk to another adult.
This week Hayden got his first pair of Ice Skates, he unfortunately haven't been able to take him yet, its cold! He is very excited and just wants to go. My friend Sarah is up from Arizona so we have been spending time with her and Breckin, so much fun! I bought out Old Navy's Maternity clearance at .97 a piece. Jason has been working a lot lately but has the next couple days off. We are going Ice Fishing on Thursday(I've never been!) and doing something else on Friday as a family.
In Baby news this little guy has been a mover and shaker. I am excited to see him again on Tuesday. Jason and I have some names narrowed down that we both like! Emery is one of them but we think we have one that might stick and not sharing yet! But middle name suggestions are welcomed!
Have a Happy New Year! Our plans are pretty nonexistent! Oh well we don't care! =)

Friday, December 19, 2008

Here is our son! He is very stubborn and as you can see had arm in front of his face the whole time. So we are going back for another ultrasound in January for scans of his face and head.

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

Anybody want to take a guess on what we are having? We hopefully find out Friday, if baby isn't too stubborn, but hey its a Smith so who knows!

I really have no idea what it is! I was 100% with Hayden it was going to be a boy, and well obviously i was right. The baby's heart rate has been in the 140's(which according to some website still is high). So guess away!

We'll probably share with everyone at Christmas what it is and I am sure I'll post pictures. I am going to try and get a cd or dvd, I am not sure how to do it but i know they do! It sounds like they will do a 3d/4d scan too.

Monday, December 1, 2008

Our baby ticker took a big jump today! My due date is officially changed to May 5th or 6th. I really don't mind either. We find out on Dec. 19th if its a Jackson James or a Maggie Mae. Everything looks good too. The heart rate was in the 140's which to me indicates boy, but we'll see. I had a good appointment this time with my Doctor who i wasn't very happy with, the last time i saw her, so that's a good thing!
